The 7Ps – Passion to Party
An ongoing, iterative path to Living Life with Intention and Passion

*Hot Off The Press*
After a lot of online work lately, a new face to face client and being MC at a live event over the last month has been energising and a breath of fresh air. Thanks to With Women Project Cameroon for inviting me to be a part of what turned out to be a vibrant event.
This newsletter takes you through the process of implementing the 7Ps that we have been going through for most of the year. There’s still time to accomplish something before the end of 2024 or perhaps you want to prepare for 2025 so that you can hit the ground running.
As part of the implementation, I am running (intentional pun!) a session for those that have identified a need to improve their health and fitness and may consider running as part of that. This FREE session, “Get fit? Lose weight? Run a marathon?” will be held online on Tuesday 19 November at 5pm Sydney time (AEDT). To register https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/1072825392629?aff=oddtdtcreatorhere.
Ticket numbers are limited so if you have trouble registering, let me know.
Looking further forward into 2025, I have decided to do something different. Whilst my clients love the 1:1 coaching sessions, for many others, they would prefer to be part of a group. Whether to meet new people, to have a wider accountability group or purely because it is a much more cost-effective option. So, I’m going to be facilitating a program – “Live Life with Intention & Passion” – that uses my standard coaching process (including the 7Ps) in a group setting. It will be an opportunity to celebrate your past, take stock of your current situation, envision your future (immediate and longer term) and take action to move in that direction. The second half of the program will be focussed on accountability. There will be a group of people with whom to share your successes and to help you overcome the challenges. I’ll send you more information soon. In the meantime, feel free to reach out to express your interest or if you have any questions.

*Passion to Party”
As many of you are aware, most of this year has been spent going through the 7Ps. Some of you have been on the whole journey whilst others have joined part way. You may have applied some or all to achieve one or more things in your life. Or you may have intended to do so and didn’t quite get there.
As I promised you in the last newsletter, this month I’m going to lead you through your own working example. This is an opportunity to gain some clarity, perhaps action something before we reach the end of the year or to prepare to hit the ground running in 2025.
If this is the first time you are doing an exercise like this (or even if you’ve done it regularly), do not beat yourself up if you don’t feel as though you have it perfect. This isn’t about perfection; it’s about progress. Even if you feel that you have done it before, there’s always an opportunity for new insights and fresh perspectives.
For simplicity’s sake and for the purposes of the example, I am going to take you through the 7Ps step by step. An important thing to remember is that the components are not necessarily completed in a linear fashion and seldom in isolation. They are iterative and dependent on each other. The starting point can vary.
It’s a working model that you will refine on an ongoing basis until it becomes how you operate. Until you cannot help but be intentional about choosing what to do (against your passion) and actually doing it.
So here goes.
Passion
Most importantly, the central P is Passion. Passion encompasses what you plan to do and how you feel about it.
Without knowing what your passion is, it’s very difficult, or dare I say impossible, to make an informed decision on any of the other Ps.
What is it that you crave, need or want the absolute most? What’s of value to you and those around you? If you’re not sure, ask the people that are most important in your life. Look back at what has excited you in the past. Consider which of your past successes have given you the most satisfaction.
This is not about finding what others do or think you should do. It’s about determining your why factor, what excites you, what are you good at, what do you need to do e.g. for health. Let someone help you. Use what you’ve done as input. Use other people to trigger ideas but don’t try and steal their passion – you can’t.
Where do you want to be, by the end of the year, three months from now, or six months from now? Stretch yourself whilst keeping it realistic. Dream but don’t set yourself up for failure.
Purge
Whether you have a formal list of things to do or not, it’s likely that you have identified a myriad of experiences, achievements and tasks that you wish to accomplish.
This step is pretty ruthless. It’s about getting rid of all those things that have been taking up valuable brain space but do not contribute to your passion. And likely never will.
One of the pieces of feedback from an early reader of my book was totally unexpected. She has been told by so many people that she should cut back on work so she could travel. But she really had no desire to travel. She even felt slightly guilty that she didn’t as it seemed as though that was what everyone else wanted.
By reframing her thoughts, she gave herself permission to let go of the item on her list that said “travel” and freed up time and headspace for what was really important to her.
She clarified her passion and purged those things that didn’t contribute to it. She made a choice to let go.
Make a choice. Get rid of them for good. Don’t hang on to them.
If you have items like this written down, stick them through the shredder. If you don’t you may consider writing them down and going through the same process.
Park
These are the things that you would like to do or expect to do at some stage but know that they are not for the foreseeable future. I call this the “danger” list. The things that we’re scared to let go of just in case. The risk is that you park more than you purge.
Once again, be ruthless. Go through this list and repeat the purge process against your passion. Rinse & repeat as often as needed. It’s always against your passion.
Prioritise
Arrange what you have kept in order of importance to you. Once again, against your passion. What is for now, what is for later?
Plan
This is where you schedule, and diarise. Take your prioritised items and work out what needs to be done (specific goals), who needs to be involved, when are you going to do it, how (what are the actions you are going to take). If the items are big, break them down into smaller, more manageable chunks. This will make your journey less overwhelming and more achievable.
What are your challenges, obstacles, or gaps? You may need to take a moment to do a realistic assessment of what could stand in your way. Don’t get hung up here on the what ifs, but acknowledge what challenges in terms of time, money, or other resources may hinder your progress.
At this point, you may even like to think about – what are three goals you can set for the rest of 2024 that will take you forward to where you want to go?
What are the three action steps you can set for each goal? In a similar fashion, identify concrete action steps that will help you do the work to complete the goal. This is the actual to-do list part. You should be able to check these items off as you progress towards accomplishing your goal.
You may need to do more parking, purging & prioritising.
Persevere
Find ways to motivate yourself. If you thrive on external motivation, ask other people to hold you accountable, perhaps they can even do the action with you. Hire a coach to support you and give you tips.
Be aware of procrastination, distractions and interruptions and identify techniques to avoid or manage them.
Revisit your passion to help you move forward.
If you’re not doing the things you planned to do, check them back against your passion.
Perhaps that’s a sign that more purging is required.
Party
In my opinion, celebrating success is one of the most underrated activities. What has been achieved can provide a springboard into the future and what is still to come.
Find the little things to celebrate. And the big things. Celebrate each small milestone as you do it. Reward yourself.
Share them with others. It may even help them.
Rinse & Repeat. It’s a continuous process.
Based on how you feel about what you’ve done, you may even tweak or change your passion.
I’ve so enjoyed being able to give you a taste of the power in applying the 7Ps Model to your life.
I’d love to hear from you if you’ve been able to use the simple model – whether across all of your life or a small part.
I’d also like to hear where you’ve struggled. Or where you think the 7Ps Model needs tweaking.
