Each day is a gift from GOD…be sure to unwrap it
Thanks to CaraConna for affording me the opportunity to get my message out to the women of Florence, Italy and beyond. Those that feel valued, those that are struggling, those that are in influential positions, and those that are frustrated with their level of impact.
CaraDonna is an all-female creative campaign, set up and supported by Agape Italia (http://agapeitalia.org/) and created in Florence in collaboration with the photographer Geanne Batista (https://www.giphotositaly.com/). The aim of the project is to encourage and support listening to women’s voices.
I was asked by CaraDonna:
Quale sarebbe il tuo messaggio alle donne?
(What would be your message to women?)
Once I came up with the message, I had to have it written on a part of my body, pose for a photo shoot and have it displayed in an exhibition in the centre of Florence. On March 8, 2023, International Women’s Day, I attended the launch of the exhibition. It was exciting to meet with the other women that had chosen to share their perspectives and to connect with them even when we could not speak the same language.
Whatever your opinion on God or on International Women’s Day, I invite you to think about how you live each day. About living it to the fullest. About accepting what it holds – the good and the less so – and maximising it. Every new dawn presents a unique opportunity to do something, succumb to your passion, inspire someone else, or challenge yourself. Sometimes that even means dealing with difficult circumstances. We have a choice in how we respond to each day. I encourage you to embrace each day, to choose to make the most of every opportunity and rise to every challenge. To be able to look back on every day knowing that you are a better person. That you’ve been intentional about what you’ve done. That you’ve made someone else’s life that little bit better. And if you feel that this is not the case, don’t beat yourself up. Tomorrow is another new day….another gift….you will have a chance to unwrap it.
If anyone would like to see the other messages – from 2023 or previous years – check out the gallery here https://caradonna.squarespace.com/gallerie. If you’re in Florence, Italy, the exhibition will be on until 29 March 2023 at Libreria Libri Liberi, Via S. Gallo, 25r (http://www.libriliberiofficine.it/)
