Rinascerò, Rinascerai (I’ll be reborn, you’ll be reborn)
The Province of Bergamo is a province in the Lombardy region of Northern Italy. It has a population of a little over 1 million. Tripadvisor describes the province’s capital, the city of Bergamo, as a northern Italy treasure. Bergamo, is also one of the country’s — and the world’s — worst-hit communities of the COVID-19 pandemic.
So what is the Good News?
From the depths of mourning has risen a song of new life! Italian artist and Bergamo local co-authored a song “Rinascerò, Rinascerai” (literally, “I will be reborn, you will be reborn) .
The song and video are a tribute to Facchinetti’s beautiful hometown. In an interview, he said: (translated by Google)
“We planned to write a song that would offer hope and help people take their minds off the crisis, if only for a few minutes, ….we’ve received messages from hospital patients who are listening to it and they are moved to tears, telling us that this is the medicine they needed.”
“After having seen on TV the images of the army trucks carrying the bodies of my fellow citizens I was overwhelmed by emotion……..in a few minutes the music was born and the title of “Rinasceró, rinascerai …..…The song is the desire for rebirth and hope, a dedication to those who have left us and their families, thanks for all those who work incessantly for the good of others: doctors, nurses and all hospital staff….……….”
“……A prayer for a city that doesn’t give up”.
May this be our prayer
At this Easter time, in the midst of something that feels insurmountable, I pray that we will find new hope. To quote some words from the song, that “I’ll be reborn, you’ll be reborn”, that “we’ll have faith in God again, in the silence there’s a breath of fresh air”.
I encourage you to read the words of the song below or watch the video which has photos of the beautiful city of Berlamo and its people. And as you do so, pray for your own life, the lives of those you love, your country and this amazing world we live in.
(The entire proceeds from downloads, copyrights and editorial rights (Facchinetti / D’Orazio) will be donated to the hospital Papa Giovanni XXIII in Bergamo for the purchase of medical equipment.)
Rinascerò, rinascerai. | I’ll be reborn, you’ll be reborn. |
Rinascerò, rinascerai. | I’ll be reborn, you’ll be reborn. |
Quando tutto sarà finito, | When all this ends, |
torneremo a riveder le stelle. | we’ll see the stars again. |
Rinascerò, rinascerai. | I’ll be reborn, you’ll be reborn. |
La tempesta che ci travolge | The storm that’s holding us in its grip |
ci piega, ma non ci spezzerà. | bends us, but it will not break us. |
Siamo nati per combattere la sorte, | We were born to challenge fate, |
ma ogni volta abbiamo sempre vinto noi. | but each time it was us who won. |
Questi giorni cambieranno i nostri giorni, | These days will change our days, |
ma stavolta impareremo un po’ di più. | but this time we’ll learn a bit more. |
Rinascerò, rinascerai | I’ll be reborn, you’ll be reborn |
Rinascerò, rinascerai. | I’ll be reborn, you’ll be reborn. |
Abbracciati da cieli grandi, | Embraced by great skies, |
torneremo a fidarci di Dio. | we’ll have faith in God again. |
Ma al silenzio si respira un’aria nuova, | In the silence there’s a breath of fresh air, |
ma mi fa paura questa mia città. | but I’m scared for this city of mine. |
Siamo nati per combattere la sorte, | We were born to challenge the fate, |
ma ogni volta abbiamo sempre vinto noi. | but each time it was us who won. |
Rinascerò, rinascerai | I’ll be reborn, you’ll be reborn |
Rinascerò, rinascerai | I’ll be reborn, you’ll be reborn |
Rinascerò, rinascerai | I’ll be reborn, you’ll be reborn |
Rinascerò, rinascerai | I’ll be reborn, you’ll be reborn |
Rinascerò, rinascerai | I’ll be reborn, you’ll be reborn |
Rinascerò, rinascerai | I’ll be reborn, you’ll be reborn |
