Setting sail for Rome
Setting sail for Rome…..via the Balearic Islands….
Given our numerous suitcase, we had booked a transfer to our new home for the next week, the Azamara Quest. This meant we could enjoy an easy final morning in Barcelona. After a relaxing cortado and pastry, we had a parting walk along the Passeig de Gracia, (Barcelona’s Champs Elysees) and past a couple of the Gaudi buildings before heading back to the apartment for last minute packing.
Grateful to have an elevator – the typical VERY small European version – we managed to get our suitcases downstairs. Just in time for our driver Robert to appear, load everything and head off to the port. Having been on the Quest a few times, we recognised her as soon as we neared the area, so were able to direct Robert to our drop-off point. It couldn’t have been easier!
Our check-in and welcome on board was flawless and we headed off to a lounge chair by the pool to sip on our bubbly and wait for our cabin to be ready. Our timing was perfect! No sooner had we decided to head downstairs, than they made an announcement that we could go to our cabin. So we dumped our bags and headed off to Windows Café for a buffet lunch.
The rest of the day was spent unpacking before joining the party on deck for the sailaway – farewell Barcelona.
After a shower, we dressed up for dinner in the main dining room following which we joined the dancing set in the disco as we celebrated the ship’s 10th birthday (although we resisted a slice of cake given the large dinner we’d just finished).
