A Week in Maidenwell

We have previously stayed at Dreambird Cottages in Maidenwell which is near the Bunya Mountains a few hours from Brisbane. It is a great place to get away from the busyness of the city with no WiFi and limited phone reception. A good way to get away from our technology addiction.

On the way we had seen that there was a reputed butcher in a Yarraman (a small village). Well, it did certainly not disappoint. We managed to find great meat at really good prices. It was nice being able to have BBQ’s in the evening.
Dreambird has a very nice outdoor spa which we enjoyed using. Particularly at night, sitting in the spa watching the stars….oh and the lighting. We had some big storms on most days with amazing lighting. We also enjoyed walking around on the property experiencing ‘farm life’.
We managed a few nice long runs along the quite rural roads and then also got to run the Nanango Parkrun. It was a relatively small field. Walter was able to be the first finisher and even though Glenda was injured she still finished strongly as the 4th person to finish.
The weather was not that great and so we did not manage as many hikes as we might have otherwise. We did get one day of hiking in. It was a beautiful day and we completed a few of the walks (mostly what we had done before). Last time we were here, it was winter. Now being summer the tracks were busier.
