Back to Vancouver
Back to Vancouver….
So having completed our West Coast road trip we headed from Whistler back to Vancouver from where we could catch a plane to Ottawa.
On the way down we stopped off at numerous viewing spots – spectacular views – would not expect anything less. At one of the stops we had to cross a train track walking to the viewing platform. Interesting seeing the trackwork in progress. We saw many waterfalls and other spectacular scenery but did not take many photo’s having now seen so many. All I can say is BC has amazing scenery around every corner.
We spent 2 nights in a nice hotel downtown so that we could spend a bit more time in the city. On our first night we went out to a restaurant that is part of a training school for chefs. The food was fantastic and Glenda had fun watching them cook while Walter enjoyed the view over the water.
The next day we were able to enjoy a nice morning run around Stanley Park. Last time in Vancouver we cycled through Stanley Park. Later in the day we enjoyed attending some of the numerous Jazz events located around town. No visit to Vancouver would be complete without a few visits to ‘Purebread’ our favourite bakery with so many nice choices. Not good for the waistline, but good for the soul.
Seaplanes (or floatplanes as they are called here) are very common. We enjoyed spending time watching them take off and land. It meant more now that we have had a trip in one our-self.
Our trip to the airport was a little stressful. We got a little lost trying to find a cheap petrol station near the airport. We then had to wait near the airport with the road closed due to a cycle race in progress. Dropping off the car also took longer than we are used too. Anyway – a little sweaty – but we made it in time for our flight which at least was relatively relaxing (only 5 hours flying to Ottawa).
