Arriving in Vancouver
We left Sydney on the 1st travelling ‘light’ as usual – well it is for a 6 month trip
Arriving and settling in – Tuesday 1 May
Having spent the night at a hotel near Sydney airport, we had a relatively easy morning before jumping on the shuttle for our transfer. The flight was comfortable and went by quickly, allowing us to catch up on our movie watching for the year with a couple of meals and naps interspersed between them.
We arrived in Vancouver at 7am, having left Sydney at 10am – funny to fly 14 hours and make up time! We were early, even after having to stand in a loooong queue to clear customs but decided to hop in a taxi and hope that we could get into our accommodation. We were extremely grateful that they had made arrangement for us to have an early check-in, so were able to settle in before going for a walk.
Whilst a bit cool after coming out of Brisbane summer, the weather was comfortable (with jacket) and we were able to enjoy a stroll along the seawalk near our “manor” in Kitsilano (or “Kits”) about 5 km from Downtown. Kits is full of trendy cafes and it didn’t take long before we were sipping on the first piccolo of a trip. We also found our local bakery and supermarket, so stocked up for lunch and dinner. The apartment has a lovely kitchen so good to be able to cook and eat in.
